2244
“2244” develops a concept on identity by embracing an aesthetic of imperfection and acceptance of mistake as part of the creative process. In a world now dominated by digital perfection, the fascination of uncertainty and error can only be obtained through analogue techniques, so as to explore the materiality of the medium and the unpredictability of the result.
The name of the project, “2244”, refers to the code assigned to the film at the time of development. The photographs were entirely taken with a Mamiya EF2 and using a roll of black and white film, expired for over than 6 years.
The combination of these factors produced an unexpected but worth telling result, as it bears its own character and expressiveness, celebrating uncertainty as a source of creativity and authenticity.
